In Colombia!

The Jenkins's and I arrived safely in Bogota two weeks ago. After 5 days of orientation in Bogota, and meeting the mission family there, we moved to our new town on the Amazon River. We are staying at a hotel while we search for permanent housing.

Our town is a hot tropical place on the Brazil-Peru-Colombia border. The streets are roaring with motorcycles all day long, but there are very few cars and trucks. There's a market near the river port, and many little shops and stores where we can find just about everything we need.

Yesterday I walked with an SIL partner to Brazil to go shopping. the Brazilian side has even more shops and motorcycles. I hope to get a motorcycle soon so I can get around and learn the towns.

We are looking for permanent housing. We need a house for the Jenkins's, and an apartment for me. We have seen a few places but there isn't much available right now. I found a place for me, but since this is Holy Week, many people aren't too enthused about working, so I may be in this hotel for at least another week.

Please pray:
  • That we find housing soon
  • That God leads us to the men and women of peace in whom He as been working
  • That God will spread His Word among the Amazon Peoples of Colombia

Glad to hear that you have arrived safely and that you're enjoying the WARM weather. It's still cold here. :(

Welcome to the Amazon. Girl there is so much work to be done here. The people are so spread out and there are so many of them. They grow and grow and grow. They are so hungry for the Word too we have found. The problem is the harvest is so great and yet the laborers are so few. We will pray that the settling in is easier than the experience we had. We are still trying to get settled in, matter of fact we are in limbo right now because Paul needs a new driver's license. We just go round and round in circles. Well, just wanted to drop a note and say welcome to the Amazon and we are definitely praying for you guys.

Hey, Amanda! So good to hear from you. Yes, it has been a while! The Lord brought you to my heart a few days ago and you can be assured of my prayers for your health, safety, housing and ministry opportunities. We continue to serve with NAMB (5 yrs. now) in Western Colorado. Our area of ministry is 6,000 sq. miles. We are having snow in much of our ministry area today - springtime in the Rockies! I look forward to more pictures and information about your ministry. May God bless you and your ministry partners richly. Have a blessed Easter!
